STEM Outreach Academy Policies
The STEM Outreach Academy is an out-of-school time program offered free of charge through federal and local grants administered by the New Mexico Public Education Department and local school districts. The program offers academic, leadership, and enrichment opportunities for students and families. The program is scheduled immediately before and/or after the regular school day. All STEM Outreach Academy students must participate on a regular basis. If program is offered both morning and afternoon, students are not required to attend both sessions.
Family group activities will be offered on some evenings and weekends. We encourage you to attend as many activities as possible. Family participation is very important to our grants because the STEM Outreach Academy has a dual capacity framework, in which we serve both students and families.
Your child and family are expected to meet program guidelines and participate regularly. Instructors use positive reinforcement during the out-of-school time program to keep a positive and fun learning environment. To maintain that positive environment, we will not allow harassment or bullying. We have a “zero tolerance” policy for any weapons or controlled substances. We follow the school district’s Code of Conduct Handbook practices and procedures. Expectations during the out-of-school time program are the same as during the traditional learning day. Our behavior/discipline policy states that if a student has a discipline issue, the parent or guardian will be notified. If your child receives three strikes, he or she may be dropped from the program and potentially lose the opportunity to participate in future programs. We reserve the right to drop a student from the program immediately if a student’s behavior puts staff or other students in danger. Please refer to the Code of Conduct Handbook on the Parents-Students section the school district webpage or your school’s STEM Outreach Academy Family Handbook for more information.
The STEM Outreach Academy program hours are determined by each school. Meals will be served during the program. We will not be open on non-school days. There won’t be afternoon/evening services on early release days. Please read and discuss the Family Handbook with your child.
Please sign this form and return it to the out of school time learning center coordinator along with the completed registration forms. You will be notified if your child has been accepted in one of our out-of-school time programs.
Pólizas de la Academia de STEM Outreach
La Academia de STEM Outreach es un programa del tiempo fuera-de-escuela ofrecido gratuitamente a través de unas subvenciones federal y locales administrada por el Departamento de Educación Pública de Nuevo México y los distritos escolares locales. El programa ofrece oportunidades académicas, de liderazgo y enriquecimiento para estudiantes y familias. El horario de programación empezara inmediatamente antes y/o después del día escolar. Todos los estudiantes de la Academia de STEM Outreach deben asistir regularmente. Si algún programa se ofrece por la mañana y la tarde, los estudiantes no están obligados a asistir ambas sesiones.
Actividades de familia se ofrecerán en algunas noches. Los animamos a asistir estas actividades. La participación familiar es muy importante para nuestras subvenciones, ya que la STEM Outreach Academy tiene un marco de doble capacidad. Significando que podemos servir a los estudiantes tanto como a las familias.
Se espera que su hijo/a y su familia cumpla con las expectativas del programa en el que se inscribió. Los instructores utilizan el refuerzo positivo durante el programa de tiempo fuera-de-escuela para mantener un ambiente divertido y positivo. Para mantener esto, no permitiremos el acoso o la intimidación (el “bullying”). Tenemos una póliza de “cero tolerancias” para cualquier arma o sustancia controlada. Seguimos las prácticas y procedimientos del “manual del código de conducta” del distrito escolar. Las expectativas durante la programación del tiempo fuera-de-escuela son las mismas que durante el día de aprendizaje tradicional. Nuesta póliza de conducta/disciplina establece que, si un estudiante tiene algún problema de disciplina, los padres serán notificados. Si su hijo/a recibe tres huelgas, es posible que se le retire del programa y potencialmente pierda la oportunidad de participar en programas futuros. Reservamos el derecho de suspender o dejar ir a un estudiante de inmediato si el comportamiento del estudiante pone en peligro al personal o a otros estudiantes.
El horario de la Academia de STEM Outreach será determinado por la escuela. Las comidas se servirán durante el programa. No habrá programación cuando la escuela no esté en sesión. Si la escuela tiene un día retrasado o un medio día, no habrá programación. Por favor lea y analice el Manual familiar con su hijo.
Por favor firme este formulario y devuélvalo al coordinador del centro de aprendizaje junto con los formularios de inscripción completos. Se le notificará si hay un programa para su hijo.
